On Monday, 10-19-2020, Rockcastle County Schools Superintendent Carrie Ballinger was notified by the Rockcastle County Health Department that our community COVID-19 incidence rate had risen to 26.5, due to a recent rise in cases. This increase puts our county in a Red status overall. As a result, and out of an abundance of caution, Rockcastle County Schools will return to virtual learning or NTI at all schools from Wednesday, 10-21-2020 through Friday, 10-23-2020. This means that all students will utilize their Chromebooks to complete learning at home, using lessons assigned in Google classroom or Odyssey on those days.
- Food Service – During this time, all students, including non-school aged children, can pick-up breakfast and lunch at their nearest community site. Meals sites are the same locations and times as before. Click here for a site list.
- Athletics – District administration will collaborate with the KHSAA about athletics and more information will follow.
On Friday afternoon, Superintendent Ballinger will review the COVID-19 incidence rate to determine whether or not school will resume in-person classes on Monday, 10-26-2020. An update will be posted on Friday evening. We ask everyone to be patient and mindful about using all safety precautions so that we might return to in-person school as soon as possible.
