The Rockcastle High School Choir was in charge of singing the National Anthem. Members included Kristen Day, Corey Parkerson, Cora Machel, Laney Poynter, Madison Stewart, Garrett Tompkins and Heather Helton.

The current leadership of the Rocket Battalion was recognized in their positions. Awards were then presented in several categories, including team awards, several academic achievement awards, physical fitness awards, superior cadet awards, and military awards, such as the American Legion Military Excellence award, and the United States Army Recruiting Command award. There were fifty one team awards presented, dozens of academic, military and special awards, and the top five female and male Cadet Challenge recipients were recognized. Those who were active in the JROTC program for all four years of their high school career received a black and gold graduation rope. The outgoing commander gave his hopeful regards to the battalion and families that support it, and allowed the new commander to give his first remarks as Battalion Commander. The Rockcastle County High School Rocket Battalion would like to thank the  Rockcastle County Board of Education, the Rockcastle High School Administration Staff, the Mount Vernon American Legion, the Mount Vernon VFW and DAR, military recruiters, the families and friends who support the battalion and those who furnished our many medals and awards, along with those who presented them. We thank all of those who attended the ceremony and assisted the battalion this year, in spite of their busy schedules. – Cadet Sergeant Ryan Martin
