A Message from Superintendent Pensol on the Recent National Tragedy

December 17, 2012

Dear Rockcastle County Parents,

I am sure you share in our intense concern and sadness regarding the tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut. Our children are our most precious gifts and their safety and well-being is of highest importance to us all. Rockcastle County Schools holds school safety as its top priority in policies and daily operations, with safety and emergency procedures in place at each individual school.

We want to help our students feel as safe as possible as they return to school after this recent heartbreaking event. We will strive to keep classroom routines predictable and be diligent in following safety procedures. The school counselor is available for students if needed. Please contact your child’s school if you have questions. The link below provides tips for parents from the National Association of School Psychologists that may be useful to you in helping your children deal with their emotions.
