The RCHS Archery Team participated in the Region 10 Tournament on February 13th at Pulaski County High School. The team had a total score of 3161 qualifying them for the Kentucky State Archery Tournament in Louisville in March. The top shooter for the Rockets was Rachel Chadwell with a score of 286. This score qualified Rachel for the individual competition at state. Other top shooters for the Rockets were Jackson Cromer with a 269, Dustin Gentry with 268, and Alyssa Bustle and Erika Howard each scoring 264. Rounding out the Rockets top 12 which contributed to their state qualifying score was Megan Taylor, Amelia Berryman, Ethan Thompson, Nicholas Ford, Jacob Collins, BJ Wynn, Megan Hampton, Joseph Cowan, and Tristan Begley.
In preparation for the State tournament, the team will compete on February 28th at Northern Middle School in Somerset and on March 7th at the Mercer Titan Classic in Harrodsburg.
The team also competed in the Southern Middle Tribal Tournament in Somerset on February 7th achieving a team score of 3119. Rachel Chadwell was the top shooter for RCHS with 278. Other top scorers were Erika Howard and Jacob Collins with 270, Dustin Gentry with 264 and Megan Taylor and Anna Poynter each with a 262.
RCMS archers also competed at the Southern Middle Tribal Tournament with a team score of 2813. The top scoring archers for the middle school were CJ Cameron 258, Leann Tankersley 255, Paige Fowler 245; Michael Allen 243, Sarah Allen 240 and Andrew Sargent with a 235.
The RCMS Rockets had a total team score of 2799 at Regionals falling one point short of the score of 2800 required to guarantee them a spot in the state middle school competition. Top regional scorers for RCMS were CJ Cameron 260, Leann Tankersley 259, Sarah Allen 252, Larry Vanwinkle 250, Michael Allen and Joseph Coffey each with 249 and Kyle Coffey with 244.
