To honor the service of the 2014 Rockcastle County School Board Members, a $250 scholarship is awarded to a high school senior based on class rank/GPA, college and career readiness measures, community service activities and a commitment to specific college and major field of study.
The second annual recipient of this scholarship is Cassidy Daugherty. She is the daughter of John & Lonetta Daugherty. Cassidy excelled in all criteria categories. Cassidy received a Gold Work Keys certificate and passed her Administrative Support KOSSA exam. Based on her class rank, GPA and ACT scores we have total confidence that Cassidy will be successful in her college career. She plans to attend the University of the Cumberlands in the fall of 2014 and major in Business Administration which will be an extension of her studies at Rockcastle ATC. She is very involved in Rockcastle County community service activities. She has been in FBLA for three years serving as Secretary in 2013 and President in 2014. Through that club she has participated in food drives, March of Dimes collections, Christmas gifts for needy children, volunteering at Sigmon Farm Kids Day, reading to elementary students and creating story books for Mt Vernon Elementary School. She has been a RCHS cheerleader for three years and conducted cheer clinics for young upcoming cheerleaders. She will also be cheering at the University of the Cumerlands this fall. Cassidy is a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon, volunteering at their library and food and clothing mission. She is active in their youth group, singing in the choir, coaching and teaching in their Upward Cheerleading Outreach and has participated in Mfuge Mission trip to Nashville, TN.
