Daughters of the American Revolution Essay Contest

Students in Mrs. Vanessa Bullock’s Language Arts and Social Studies BRAVO classes participated in the Daughters of the American Revolution annual essay contest in October. The students wrote journal entries as someone who had toured America’s national parks to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service.

RES Student Wins AARP & KY Retired Teachers Essay Contest

AARP Kentucky and Kentucky Retired Teachers Association sponsored the essay contest “Why my Grandparents should be the AARP Kentucky Grandparents Of The Year.”  Roundstone Elementary 5th grader, Kaliee Collins was the school winner of the contest.

RES Student Wins DAR Essay Contest

The National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution sponsored an American History essay contest for Rockcastle County elementary students.  Inan McFarland, 5th grader at Roundstone Elementary, was the county winner for the essay contest.  Inan is pictured with his teacher Harold Woodall, DAR Chapter President Debbie Brown, and RES Principal Chris Bishop.

RCMS Band Students Perform With District Honor Band

Cook Participates in KY Jr. High Mixed Chorus

RCMS 8th grader Jacob Cook participated in the Kentucky Jr. High Mixed Chorus. For the audition process, he competed against 7th, 8th, and 9th grade students all across the state of Kentucky. MVES Academic Team Named District Champions

Congratulations to the Mt. Vernon Elementary Academic Team as they became the Governor’s Cup District 96 Academic Team Champions.  MVES also placed first in Quick Recall and will be moving to Regional Competition on March 4th.

RES Academic Team Places 2nd in District Tournament
