Early Dismissal Thursday, October 5th for Bus Drills

On Thursday, October 5th, 2017, Rockcastle County Middle School and Rockcastle County High School will dismiss at 2:45 p.m. in order to complete school bus emergency evacuation drills at each of the elementary schools.  You should adjust your schedule to meet this early dismissal.  These drills will require the coordinated effort of everyone involved.  The emergency evacuation procedures have been covered in driver training sessions.  All drivers are expected to lead bus drills on their bus. Teachers are just there to assist in keeping students together outside the bus and getting them back on the bus safely.  In the event of an emergency, the bus driver will have to lead a safe evacuation, those teachers will most likely not be present.  Once the drills have been completed, the principal will release the buses.  If you have any questions on this matter, please contact Ken Hopkins, Director of Transportation. No School Friday and Monday (October 6th and October 9th) – Fall Break.

The following buses: 0803 (Clentin Bowman), 1504 (Vicky Mullins), 1505 (Keith Mink), 1604 (Jason Medley), 1603 (Ronnie McKinney), 1704 (Donna Asher), and 1002 (Kathy Dees) will load and then proceed to the Rockcastle County Middle School to conduct the bus drills.  These buses are to park in front of the school.  They will have staff available to assist with the drills.

The remaining MVES buses will load their students and listen for further instructions from Mr. Coffey so the drills can be conducted in a safe orderly manner.

It is important that the buses coming from the Middle School are in front of the High School buses so we can keep the same line up at MVES.
