Rockcastle Area Technology Center celebrates February as National CTE (Career & Technical Education) month. Rockcastle ATC has a long history of providing career and technical education to the youth of Rockcastle County. For just over four decades, Rockcastle ATC has served Rockcastle County High School students to prepare them for careers in high demand sectors. Currently, we offer Automotive Technology, Business Technology, Electricity, Health Science, and Welding Technology. Our programs are taught by experts in their related fields and trades. 9th-12th grade students receive training in related career pathways along with 21st century skills all employers are looking for. Furthermore, each program offers opportunities to participate in career and technical student organizations including: FBLA, HOSA, and SkillsUSA. All of our programs include career pathways leading to either an industry certification or end of program assessment with articulated credit. Additionally, we offer free dual credit opportunities with Somerset Community College at the 11th and 12th grade levels. Our instructors are Lance Baldwin- Automotive, Ashley Mullins and Vicky Castle -Business Technology, Jeff Draper- Electricity, Rhonda Childress -Health Science, and Curtis Burton – Welding. Support staff include Sherman Cook- principal, Diane Smith-administrative assistant, Dean McClure- custodian, and Kay Abney- instructional assistant. Our Rockcastle ATC team forms many lifelong relationships with our students, and we are proud of our legacy of providing skilled labor to our numerous business partners in Rockcastle County and beyond.
