On March 9th, 2016, several members of the Rockcastle County FFA Chapter traveled to Laurel County to the Center of Innovation for Regional Paperwork Day. We had two teams that competed in two different contests and both teams were able to win 1st place. James Clay Ballinger was one of the two people selected from the Kentucky River Region to represent us in state officer elections in the summer. Eric Bullock was elected as the Kentucky River Region President for the 2016-2017 year. Our junior varsity parliamentary procedure team was able to place 1st in the region. The team includes President Sydney Hines, Vice President Hope Holbrook, Secretary Autumn Davidson, Treasurer Hannah Denny, Reporter Elisha Blanton, and Sentinel Cole Ballinger. There were four members. The members include Jarrett Burke, Daya McGuire, Tiffany McGuire, and Heather Miller. Shaylin Howerton was the alternate member. The junior varsity team will advance on to compete at State Convention in June. The Nursery/Landscape team also competed and was able to place 1st in the region. Team members include Paul Holbrook, Ryan Kirby, and Andrew Joshua McKinney. Ryan Kirby was regional 1st high individual. Paul Holbrook and Andrew Joshua McKinney tied for regional 2nd high individual. The nursery/landscape team will go on to compete at State Fair in August. We are all proud of the members that competed on the teams and are excited to see them compete in the near future. We wish them all luck!
