Jacob Lamb represented Rockcastle County High School in the 2018 Army JROTC Air Rifle Championship this weekend at Camp Perry Ohio. 82 Precision Class Shooters fired in the following locations: Anniston, Alabama, Chandler, Arizona and Camp Perry Ohio. Jacob scored 1,123 points of a possible 1,200 earning the rank of 46 of the 82 who shot. CPT Thompson his rifle coach was proud of his composure and work ethic as he made each shot. Jacob scored his personal best by averaging 280.75 of 300 possible while in November he averaged 275. It was exciting to watch him start Sunday Morning shooting a 197 of 200 in the prone shooting position (17 10’s or Bullseyes). At Camp Perry he got to shoot beside American High school students from Stuttgart HS, Germany, Vilseck HS, Germany, Walla Walla HS, Washington and Concordia HS in Indiana.
The trip was an eye opening experience for Jacob for several reasons. During the trip he saw a Nuclear Power Plant, and five Texas size windmills that generate massive amounts of energy. He got to see the Marble Head Light House as well as several Churches in the area. He was impressed with Lake Erie and was able to see the Cedar Point Amusement Park across from the light house. He was able to enjoy a variety of awesome food by going to local run restaurants for food. The trip took him further North than he had ever been allowing him to be impressed by the distance and the flat terrain around the Great Lakes.
