As a part of the KYReads Summer Reading Contest, the four schools with the highest percentage of the school’s student body/population that “pledge to read” will
receive one of the prizes listed in the document linked below. All of the prizes are popular reading improvement programs that use Lexi le® measures to differentiate reading instruction. Students in
grades 3-8 receive a Lexi le measure from the Kentucky Performance Rating for Educational Progress. Lexile measures will be included on the K-PREP score reports that parents receive in the 2013-2014 school year. Incentives are available through the Kentucky Department of Education’s partnership with MetaMetrics®. In recognition of the importance of summer reading, Meta Metrics’ partners Achieve3000, Capstone Digital and Scholastic will donate school licenses for their reading programs.
How do I submit my pledge to read?
All members of the school community (students, educators, parents and administrators) are invited to participate. Participants can pledge to read at “Find a Book, Kentucky” (www.Lexile.com/fab/KY). The Summer Reading Pledge begins on May 1, 2014 and will end on August 31, 2014. Simply click the “Submit your Summer Reading Pledge” button and enter in your information. Please enter in your official school name.
