Marching Rockets Set to Make Fourth Appearance at KMEA State Marching Band Championship

The 2016 edition of the RCHS Marching Rockets have had a great season this year and are finishing their season with an appearance at this year’s KMEA State Marching Band Championship in Class AAA competition.  The Rockets were one of 8 bands in Class AAA selected to advance from the eastern half of the state to the semifinals competition that will be held in Louisville this Saturday.   The band’s show, entitled ” To Thine Own Self” has been successful for the Rockets, recently earning them first place at the Powell County Pirate Marching Classic as well as a proficient rating and advancement to the Class AAA East Regional Quarterfinals held at Bourbon County High School this past Saturday.   The show features senior soloists Logan Anglin, Frankie Woodall, and Morgan Didelot as well as underclassmen soloists Lizzie Dixon, Abigail Fletcher, and Colorguard soloist Trista Graves.  Senior Drum Major Allison Renner conducts the band as they take the field for each competition.  “It has been an amazing year and an unforgettable experience when we found out that we were going to state” according to Allison.  The 2016 season marks the Rockets fourth appearance at the state competition since their first appearance in 2006, again in 2009, and in 2012. The Marching Rockets will compete in semifinals at Eastern High School at 12:45 this Saturday.  The Marching Rockets members include colorguard members, Brooklyn Lane, Madison Smith, Megan Peacock, Trista Graves, Emily Alexander, and Devona Smith.  Percussionists include Ryan Martin, Jonah Pillion, Joseph Cowan, Nora Pulliam, Madison Pride, Kennedy Carpenter, Miranda Brown, and Zach Feltner.  The brass section includes Logan Anglin, Abigail Fletcher, Shelbie Baker, Sarah Pride, Allison Dunn, Connor Noble, J.J. Clouse, Andrew Didelot, and Chandler Batchelor.  The woodwind section includes Frankie Woodall, Lizzie Dixon, Morgan Didelot, Ben Tyler, and Tarrylton Dunn.  Marching Rockets Staff include Cassandra Smith, Percussion Instructor, Steven Renner, Colorguard Instructor, Wendy Danniels, Woodwind Instructor, and Director Greg Daugherty.
