During Read Across America Week, Mrs. Breanna’s 4th grade class was very busy. We had several guest readers, as well as some special activities to celebrate Dr. Seuss and the joy of reading. Mr. Jon Adams, loan officer at Citizens Bank read “Oh the Places You’ll Go”, then we painted hot air balloons and set some goals for what we would like to do when we grow up. Next was Mr. Ross McClure, American Airlines pilot. He read “The Almost Impossible Thing” and then talked to the students about his job as a pilot. After telling us about his job he gave students the opportunity to try out an actual flight simulator. Our next guest reader was KY State Representative Mr. Travis Brenda. Mr. Brenda read “If You Hopped Like a Frog” and talked to the students about math, engineering and his job as a state representative. The students had a lot of really great questions, and we found out about some really cool jobs.
We read “The Butter Battle Book” by Dr. Seuss and made our own butter. Do you place your butter side up or side down? We also had special guest Ms. Rachel Cain from the county extension office who began a series of lessons on the life cycle of a chicken. BES 4th grade has a lot of really great things going on.
