The President Comes to Mt. Vernon!

Recently, Mt. Vernon Elementary fifth grade students had a very special guest speaker.  By way of the Mills Springs Battlefield Association, President Abraham Lincoln came and spoke to our students discussing a number of topics which included: his time as a boy in Kentucky, how he got his start in politics, and his time serving as president during the Civil War.  This activity helped students convey and appreciate the concepts we’ve been discussing in Social Studies.
