Our Annual Kenna’s Kitchen Community Thanksgiving Dinner is coming soon.  This is a yearly dinner sponsored by our FRC in honor of our former school psychologist, Kenna Lanham who passed away.  She will forever be in our hearts.  Many families look forward to this event and are so happy to receive this meal.  We will begin our food drive next week.  The donations requested are on the following schedule:

  • Monday, October 31—Corn
  • Tuesday, November 1—Green Beans
  • Wednesday, November 2—Peas
  • Thursday, November 3—Instant Potatoes
  • Friday, November 4—Stuffing

The following MVES students received awards for their artist ability in the 4-H poster contest that was held district-wide.   The 1st place winner in the 4th grade division was Jackson Stallsworth from Mrs. Brandy Alexander’s room and 2nd place winner was Kylee Fletcher from Mrs. Kristy Parkey’s room.  In the 5th grade division Destiny Eversole from Sara Coguer’s room received a 3rd place finish.  Congratulations to all the winners and participants.

Mrs. Paula’s 2nd grade class has had a lot of exciting learning activities in October.  We had a wonderful visit to Salt Petre Cave.

Also,  the Mt. Vernon Fire Department taught us about fire safety.  Thank you guys for taking time to visit us.

Last, we have pledged to be “drug free” this past week during Red Ribbon Week.
