MVES Fifth Grade’s Way of Showing Our Spirit

By: Elizabeth Mikeworth

Fifth grade has spent the last two weeks doing research on American Indians and their culture!  One of our projects was to make a totem pole. We got into four groups and each group made a part of a totem pole.  Each fifth grade class voted for an animal to go on top of their totem pole.  Animals at the top of the totem pole usually have a meaning like “wolf, for cleverness or “cheetah, for speed”. We stacked it tall to be displayed for all. 5th grade is very creative!
