Mya Hunt Receives Scholarship from 1st Annual Singing Bird Music Camp

RCMS student, Mya Hunt received a scholarship from the 1st Annual Singing Bird Music Camp.  Singing Music School is a musical school that is building an Appalachian community music gathering where all people can enjoy music together and learn from each other. Musicians Belle Jackson, Donna Lamb and Sam Gleaves got together and said, “There ought to be a camp where folks can come and learn old time music in Berea. “The Singing Bird Music School celebrates the living legacy of master artists Lewis Lamb, traditional fiddler, and Lovester Wilkinson, quilter, singer, and storyteller. Musicians of all experience levels (age 10 and up) were welcome to participate in three days of hands-on classes in old time fiddle, banjo, guitar, flatfoot dancing, and singing with teaching artists Pam Gadd, Sam Gleaves, Carla Gover, John Harrod, Michael Parks, Lucian Parker, and Deborah Payne.
