Oh Deer! BES Students Study Animal Habitats

Third graders at Brodhead Elementary have been studying animal habitats and the importance to food chains and the impacts that are made when a link in the chain is altered. Students participated in a real life experience that showed the effects of missing links in the habitat. While playing Oh Deer!, students identified and describe food, water, and shelter as three essential components of a habitat. This activity focused on carrying capacity and recognized that some fluctuation in wildlife populations are natural as ecological systems undergo constant change. Pictured while playing Oh Deer!, are 3rd grade students including Ruby Hoskins, and Portia Sargent, Taylor Wilson and Keegan Riddle, Brayden Brooks and Brayden Thacker, and Lucas McElroy and Adreona Douglas.
