RCHS Band Members Perform With WKU High School Honor Band Program

Members of the RCHS Concert Band were selected and auditioned as musicians for the 2019 WKU High School Honors Band program held on campus at Western Kentucky University.  Students spent two days in intensive rehearsals with top students from Ohio, Indiana, Tennessee, and Kentucky.  The group also attended the 24th Annual WKU Prism Concert  given by the WKU Music Department.  The weekend’s activities culminated in a public concert given on January 23rd in the Van Meter Recital Hall on campus.  Students had the opportunity to work with some of the best clinicians in the Eastern U.S. including Dr. David Waybright, Director of Bands at the University of Florida, Mr. Lafe Cook, Director of Bands at Dobins-Bennett High School in Tennessee, Mr. Roy Holder, Retired Director of Bands at Lake Baddock High in Virginia, and local talent, Ms. Pauletta Smith, Retired Director of Bands at Hazard High School in Kentucky.  Pictured from L-R front row are RCHS Members JJ Clouse, trumpet, Allison Dunn, french horn, Tarrylton Dunn, alto saxophone, Connor Noble, bassoon, and back row, Thomal Ligon, euphonium, Devona Smith, oboe, and Lizzie Dixon, clarinet.
