RCHS Football Team Supports Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Rockcastle Regional Hospital and Rockcastle County High School Football teamed up to draw attention toward Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Friday, October 12 vs. Knox Central marked the annual “Pink” football game at the Rock.

Rockcastle Regional had a display tent set up with information and fun things for the whole family. Players from the football team wore pink accents. Cheerleaders wore “Pink Rock” shirts and distributed pink footballs to the crowd during timeouts. A ceremonious message regarding cancer awareness followed by a balloon launch in memory of cancer patients was conducted at halftime.

Over 500 “Pink Rock” T-shirts were sold prior to the game to get everyone in the spirit. Proceeds from the sale of the “Pink Rock” tees will benefit the Hope Fund for local cancer patients and their families. The campaign raised over $2000 for the Hope Fund.

Special thanks to Rockcastle Regional Hospital Chemotherapy Clinic, RCMS Leadership Team and RCHS Football coaches and players. Also a very special thanks to Rockcastle Co Schools volunteers: Kristy Parkey, Cynthia Rogers, Vanessa Bullock, Lesha Cromer, Mike McNabb, Barb Mullins, Jessie Mahaffey and Derrick Bussell.
