The RCHS girls’ indoor track team won the Class 2A Indoor State Track & Field Championship this past Saturday in Mason County, defeating runner-up Highlands by a score of 101-80. This was the 3rd straight indoor state title for the girls’ team and their 7th overall. Several RCHS competitors had outstanding performances. Tori Phillips won the high jump state title. Katie Hensley won the long jump state title and finished as state runner-up in triple jump. Lacey Gastineau finished as state runner-up in the 400-meter dash and 4th in the 55-meter dash. Jennifer Mercer placed 3rd in long jump, 5th in the 55-meter hurdles, and 7th in the 55-meter dash. Alyssa Allen placed 4th in triple jump. Lanna Prewitt placed 6th in the 3000-meter run. Sierra Mercer, Rachel Cain, and Taylor Bullock ran on the 3rd place 3200-meter relay team. Sierra, Jennifer, Katie, and Lacey locked up the team state title with a state runner-up performance in the 1600-meter relay. For the RCHS boys’ team, Jared Lake placed 5th in shot put.
