RCHS JROTC Cadets Attend Junior Cadet Leadership Camp

Ten highly motivated cadets from the Rockcastle County High School JROTC attended the Junior Cadet Leadership Camp held at the Bluegrass army depot in Richmond Kentucky 26 -30 May 2012. The Cadets participated in activities such as Rappelling, water survival, orienteering, land navigation, Kentucky history, Low and high ropes courses, raiderchallenge and survival skills. The cadets stayed in barracks and experienced a “basic training” type environment filled with barracks inspections,  organized physical fitness activities and of course sergeants yelling at them. The cadets experienced a lot of hot weather and blisters but overcame and conquered the elements.

The cadets who attended were:  Megan Boggs (won 2nd place Female Physical Fitness award), Victoria Smith (Won 1st place squad raider challenge), Dylan Stewart (Won squad peer leadership award), Robbie Howard, Josh England, Addison Atkin, Brady McClure (Won squad 1st place raider challenge), Josh Linville (Won 2nd Place squad raider challenge,  squad peer leadership award and served and Alpha Company Commander), Dillon Doan and William Martin (won 1st place Land navigation team.

Captain Thompson and SFC Graves accompanied the cadets to camp and ran the Poncho Rafting site.
