RCHS Safety Concern – Bomb Threat

Dear RCHS Parent/Guardian,

At approximately 8:30 a.m. this morning, the administration was notified by local authorities that a credible bomb threat against the high school had been reported.  Following our procedures, we evacuated the building and took all students a safe distance from the building.  We also notified our Central Office staff.  Due to inclement weather conditions, we transported all high school students to the middle school gymnasium while we waited for the state and local police to search the high school building.  Students were served lunch in the RCMS cafeteria and RCHS staff monitored and supervised our students during the day.    Once the authorities notified administration that the building was clear, we made preparations to transport students back to the high school.

We realize that it was an unusual situation for everyone involved and appreciate our parents and community for their understanding and patience.  I want to commend our students for their excellent behavior and our staff for their calm supervision of our students.  Student safety is our top priority and will be treated with swift and appropriate action.  Thank you in advance for helping make our school a safe place for students to learn.
