RCHS Senior Library Practicum Students Collaborate with RES Elementary Students

RCHS Senior Library Practicum students traveled to Roundstone Elementary School to collaborate with RES library students. Kindergarteners through fourth graders were involved in coding and robotics activities led by RCHS students. RCHS library students created and conducted introductory lessons to the elementary school students, introducing them to coding language, basic coding fundamentals, and provided them with hands-on coding experience. Some of the tools and activities focused on basic coding while others were more complex and required critical thinking and problem-solving skills from students. Students were able to learn important skills through the context of code while building 21st-century skills for life that empower them to become creators and thinkers. Mrs. Cynthia Rogers is the library media specialist at RES and Ms. Joanie Alexander is the library media specialist at RCHS.
