RCMS News 10/27/2015

We are in the midst of Red Ribbon Week at RCMS.  We thank the Unite Club officers for organizing our themes for each day.  Thursday we show that “Our Future is Bright and Drug Free” by wearing college t-shirts.  On Friday, we show that “We Have the Power to be Drug Free” by wearing superhero t-shirts and capes.

The deadline for the PTSA Mixed Bags fundraiser is November 4th.  Thanks to everyone who has been working to sell the products.   Proceeds from the fundraiser benefit our school and students.

Congratulations to Mrs. Davis’s 6th grade Voyagers on once again having the best weekly attendance.

We are looking forward to our spooky storytelling with Mr. Shawn Burdette on Thursday and our Spooky Band and Choir Concert on Friday morning.

Picture orders are due by Friday, November 6th.  Picture retakes will be Monday, November 9th.  Students must have a note from home requesting that a retake be done.

The Lady Rockets will be hosting a Festive Fall Dance Party this Friday from 3:00-5:00.  We will be dancing, watching Thriller, and listening to scary stories from the Story Teller!!    The cost is $4 at the door and you must have a note to stay.

Congratulations to our Kind Kids of the Week:  Jeremiah Powell, Devyn Seaburg, Shelbie Baker, Isaiah Owens, J.J. Clouse, Cameron Dunn, Lucas Messer, Blake Barnett, and Daniel Holsing.

Congratulations to the following students who were selected to participate in the GEMS and G2-TEC conferences at Somerset Community College:  Carly Cromer, Kylee Fain, Autumn Courtney, Gracelyn Owens, Sadie Howard, Caitlin Long, Cassie Smith, Zach Taylor, Morgan Johnson, Jacob Hunt, Dawson Nicely, Jacob Loudermilk, Reese Sherrow, and Vashaun Alexander.  The students will learn much about various careers in the medical, engineering, science, and technology fields.

We thank all of the 8th grade parents who donated food items to sell during parent teacher conferences.  $418 was raised for the 8th grade trip.

The RCMS Builders Club members were great role models for preschoolers last Thursday.  The group shared a story and then helped the kids decorate pumpkins.  Savanna Sweet, Leann Tankersley, Aden Amburgey and Logan Bullock were great readers.  The young students at Tic Toc Preschool and CAP Child Development Center greatly appreciated the visits.

There is no school next Monday or Tuesday.
