RCMS Students Enjoy Cherokee Storytelling

The middle school arts and humanities classes taught by Ms. Cassandra Smith and Ms. Carri Hunt were recently visited by a local guest story teller, Mr. David Owens.  The combined classes of eighth graders enjoyed authentic stories of the Thunderbolt people, as well as genuine Cherokee artifacts.  The students were also able to view a Cherokee style teepee painted last school year by then eighth grade art club members, Savana and Samantha Bullock.  After the amazing performance of Thunderbolt stories, students wrote their own legends and folk tales in the style of the Cherokee people.  Students were then able to create costume and prop pieces and performed their original stories for one another.
