COVID-19 Notification 10/13/2020

At 2:50 p.m., Rockcastle County School officials were notified that a student at Rockcastle County High School had received a positive COVID-19 test.  This student attended school, in-person, during the day on Tuesday, October 13th, 2020.  Our local health department will review seating charts from the student’s classes, along with lunch and bus seating charts and will notify all individuals who were within 6 feet of this student for longer than 15 minutes during the day.  The health department will also provide instructions to those individuals for quarantine procedures. Unless you are contacted directly by the health department, it is not necessary for your child to quarantine.  School staff have begun the process of deep cleaning in each classroom and all areas where this student was located at any point during the school day. As a reminder, please stay at home if you are sick and/or anyone in your home is showing symptoms of COVID-19 or has received a positive test result.  We need the cooperation and assistance of our entire community to ensure that our students can remain in school.  If the number of cases within our community continues to increase, it is possible that we will have to return to distance learning (at home).  As always, the health and safety of our students and staff is our first priority and we want to be transparent in communicating updates regarding the pandemic and its impact on our schools.
