Health Department Offering Diabetes Prevention Program

The Rockcastle County Health Department is implementing a Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) for anyone who is at risk for Diabetes.  This is a 16-week program consisting of 1-hour weekly sessions and after 16 weeks, 6 monthly follow-up sessions are provided.  The DPP class can cut participants risk in developing Type 2 Diabetes in half by losing 5% to 7% of their body weight, reduce stress, improve food choices, increase physical activity and use coping skills to maintain weight loss.  Below is a flyer about the Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP).  Additionally participants will get Humana Vitality points when they attend this program.

The tentative start date is January 24th and the location is to be determined.
