Thanks to research, approximately 90% of children with acute leukemia are now cured,” said Helen Overfield, Executive Director, of LLS’s Kentucky & Southern Indiana Chapter. “But there still is a long way to go. Leukemia is one of the most common types of cancer in children and adolescents, so LLS’s Student Series Programs provide a meaningful way for kids to help kids. Every penny really does make a difference.”

The LLS Student Series programs, are designed to teach children how to set and reach goals, and the value of community involvement. Students spent three weeks during the 2016-17 school year on programs they designed to raise funds to help bring about a world without blood cancers. By contributing their spare change and participating in other special fundraising events, they made someday today.
