Mrs. Kami’s Class Celebrates 100th and 101st Days of School

On the 100th day of school, Mrs. Kami and Ms. Lisa’s kindergarten class at MVES dressed as though they were 100 years old.  On the 101st day of school, they dressed as 101 Dalmatians.

Local Agencies Provide Kindergarten Readiness Packets

Rockcastle County preschool students received kindergarten readiness packets purchased with funds provided by Rockcastle County Early Childhood Council, Rockcastle County Schools, Community Action Councils South Central Head Start and Kiwanis Club of Rockcastle County. The packets included several instructional materials that students can use in preparation for the upcoming school year.

2019-2020 Preschool & Kindergarten Registration

There are two programs in Rockcastle County that offer free early childhood education services to qualifying four year old children. (Three year old children may be eligible with an identified disability.) The programs are: The Rockcastle County Public Preschool and Community Action Council’s South Central Head Start.

MVES Kindergartners Perform “Vowel Surgery”

Last week, Ms. Hannah’s kindergarten class reviewed short vowel sounds with “Vowel Surgery”. Students dressed up as doctors and performed surgery on “sick” words (words missing their vowel).

MVES 5th Graders Read to Kindergarten Students

5th Grade Reads to K

Mrs. Cameron’s 5th Grade Class came to Ms. Cloia’s class for a special Christmas project.  Fifth grade students read, Twas the Night Before Christmas, to kindergarten students and then did a coloring activity.
