MVES 5th Graders Read to Kindergartners

Ms. Jamie Ellison’s 5th grade students at MVES read the Christmas story, “Twas the Night Before Christmas” with Ms. Hannah’ Kindergarten students. Each of Ms. Hannah’s students received their own copy of the story to color and take home.

MVES Kindergartners Have a Giving Spirit

Mt. Vernon Elementary kindergartners chose to donate food to the Family Resource Center snack pack program instead of exchanging gifts with one another.  What a kind and caring group of students!

BES Kindergarten Students Learning Shapes

Brodhead Elementary kindergarten students are taking a bite into learning. Mrs. Angie’s kindergarten students have been learning about shapes. Students have been using various materials to make the different shapes. In the picture, Hagyn Coleman, Annabell Griffin, London Freson, and Harrison Craig use pretzels and marshmallows to make a square.

Kindergarten Students Learn About KY Derby

Mrs. Imogene Williams’ and Mrs. Tanya Clark’s kindergarten classes at Roundstone Elementary School have been learning about Kentucky, Kentucky traditions including the Kentucky Derby, and animals. There are two programs in Rockcastle County that offer free early childhood education services to qualifying four year old children. MVES Students Perform “Vowel Surgery”

Mt. Vernon Elementary School kindergarten students performed “vowel surgery” – we had lots of sick words missing their vowels. Students worked with a partner to find the missing vowels to spell the words correctly, then recorded it in their patient chart!

Student Donates Hair in Honor of RES Staff Member

Roundstone Elementary kindergarten student Ella Grace Williams from Mrs. Tanya Clark’s class had 10 1/4″ of her hair cut and donated to Locks of Love in honor of RES kindergarten assistant Becky Harding who is battling breast cancer.
