Welding Students Tour Manufacturing Facility

Rockcastle County ATC would like to express their gratitude to NACCO Materials Handling Group for hosting a plant tour on April 28th.  Thirty-nine welding students, Ralph Baker (Principal), and Sherman Cook (Instructor) were given an extensive tour of the facility which produces high quality lift trucks.  The tour was led by NACCO employees Ken Holt and Dennis Hatfield.  We would also like to thank Mrs. Carolyn Holt for graciously donating her time to drive the bus for our trip. The following is a statement from NMHG tour leader, Ken Holt:

NMHG, Berea Plant (makers of Hyster and Yale lift trucks), believes in supporting schools that will provide our future employees with the skills we need.  The Rockcastle County Area Technology Center has been a long time partner providing this need. I enjoyed taking the time to talk to these students and give them encouragement.  Making yourself qualified and wanted by companies is a challenge.  I do not believe a job opportunity will come to you, you have to make the opportunity yourself.  By being the best in whatever you do, you increase your job opportunities.   I am very proud of these students for showing the initiative to be successful.  I am also impressed by the commitment of the school teachers and staff in making sure each individual receives personal attention. Rockcastle County is fortunate to have a school that makes this investment in our children.
