Mrs. Martin’s Class News at MVES

Old-Fashioned Cornbread and Butter

After reading the book in reading groups titled, Little House in the Big Woods, by Laura Ingalls Wilder, Mrs. Michelle Martin’s class participated in a class project making butter. Each student in the class got his/her own little jar of cream and shook the cream until it separated into butter.  Mrs. Denise helped get the cream and salt in the jars and helped the students shake the butter, while Mrs. Martin made cornbread. Then students got to eat their own butter with the freshly made cornbread made.

The Day of the Turkey

Students in Mrs. Michelle Martin’s class performed a play for multiple classes at MVES for Thanksgiving. Each student had a part and lines that he/she memorized and performed for everyone.  They made their props and put together costumes based on what they had from home and from those borrowed from Mrs. Thana. Thanks to the parents for encouraging these students and coming to watch them perform.

Maniac MaGee visits Mrs. Martin’s 4th grade students

Students from Mrs. Denise’s reading group out of Mrs. Martin’s class read Maniac MaGee, by Jerry Spinelli.  Students were treated with Mars Bars and Butterscotch Krimpets supplied by Mrs. Denise.  They learned about the tall tale of Jeffrey MaGee and his life in Pennsylvania.  If you have a chance, please read this book for yourself.  They rate it with a   5-star rating.
