Rockcastle County Chamber of Commerce Scholarship: The Chamber of Commerce will award one $1,000 scholarship to a graduating senior. Applicants must submit two letters of recommendation (one educational and one community), as well as two short (one page) essays on selected topics which can be found in the application. Deadline to submit applications is April 22, 2016. Applications are available in the guidance office. (applications can be mailed directly to the Chamber of Commerce or given to counselors)
*Jim Cox Memorial Scholarship: This $500 scholarship will be awarded to a student who plans to major in a science-related field or science education in college, and who has demonstrated proficiency in high school science courses. Applications are available in the guidance office, and are due by April 29, 2016.
Jackson Energy Scholarship: High school seniors who plan to attend college or technical school in the fall of 2016 are invited to apply for the Jackson Energy Scholarship Essay Contest. The winner will receive a $2000 scholarship, payable to the educational institution to which the student attends. Deadline for receipt of the essay and supporting documents is April 1, 2016. Commonwealth Credit Union Scholarship: CCU is offering a $1000 scholarship to four students. Applicants or parents/guardians of applicants must be members of CCU. A minimum 2.8 GPA is required. Scholarship applications are available in the guidance office. Deadline for submission is March 18, 2016.
*Berea Masonic Lodge Scholarship: The Berea Masonic Lodge is awarding a $500 scholarship to an RCHS senior. There is no minimum GPA, but academics, community service, and extracurricular involvement will be considered in the selection of the winner. Applications are available in the guidance office. Deadline for submission is April 29, 2016.
*Cruisin’ in the Valley Scholarship: One $1000 scholarship will be awarded to a senior who plans on attending a college or technical school in the fall of 2016. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required. Applications are in the guidance office. Deadline to submit applications is March 31st.
HOPE 53 Scholarship: HOPE 53 Ministries, a non-profit organization based in Stanford, KY, is offering up to three $530 scholarships to graduating seniors who plan to pursue careers in Christian ministry/service. Applicants must plan to attend a Christian college/university; other criteria may include GPA, school/church/community activities, and recommendation by a church/community leader. Application and letter of recommendation must be postmarked by March 25, 2016. Applications are available in the guidance office or at http://hope53.org/events/2016-hope-53-scholarship.
*Mt. Vernon Lions Club Scholarship: The Lions Club has established a scholarship fund that will provide one annual scholarship in the amount of $1000 to a local senior. Two letters of recommendation, as well as a biographical sketch, are required. Applications are available in the guidance office. Deadline for submission is April 29, 2016.
*Rockcastle Kiwanis Scholarship: The Rockcastle Kiwanis Club is offering one $1000 scholarship to a senior who has a minimum 3.0 GPA and who is a member of the Key Club. Two letters of recommendation are required, along with a short essay. Applications are in the guidance office. Deadline for submission is April 29, 2016.
Kentucky Manufactured Housing Institute: Three $1000 scholarships will be awarded to high seniors who live in modular, or manufactured homes in Kentucky. Applicants must submit a 300 word essay explaining the “impact of factory-built housing on your life” and three letters of recommendation (only one can be from school personnel). Applications are available in the guidance office and must be post-marked by April 1, 2016.
*“I Am UNITE” Scholarship: This $1500 need-based scholarship will be made available to 20 or more high school seniors in the 32 county region who are current or former members of the UNITE Club or who have attended Camp UNITE as a camper or Team Leader. Applicants must have a 2.75 (unweighted) GPA, and must submit a 500 word essay and two letters of recommendation (one from a school employee and one from a community member). Applications are available in the guidance office. Deadline for submission is March 31, 2016.
2016 Student-View Scholarship Program: One $4000 scholarship, two $1000 scholarships, and ten $500 scholarships will be awarded to seniors across the nation. Applicants must complete a 15-20 minute survey, and winners will be chosen via a random drawing of all completed applications. Winners will be announced in May. Deadline is April 22, 2016.
