Getting Started for Seniors

  1. Start researching schools online.
  2. Begin applications to your top choices. APPLY TO MORE THAN ONE SCHOOL!! You need to always have a backup plan. **When you apply, put your request for a transcript on the sheet in the guidance office. We will send it to the college.**
  3. Check scholarship deadlines on the college/university websites. (It is usually under “ADMISSIONS”)
  4. Retake the ACT if you need to improve your score. Don’t wait until the last minute to register!
  5. Visit schools in which you are interested; you can use an EHO form to cover your absence for a college visit.
  6. Come to the College Information Night on September 12th at 6:00 p.m. Keith Ritchie with the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority (KHEAA) will be here to talk about financial aid!
  7. Start writing down questions to ask your counselor in your senior interview (mid-September).
  8. Check the R.C.H.S. website frequently for updates on scholarships and deadlines. You can also sign in to the counselors’ REMIND account to get text messages about scholarships and other announcements.
  9. Remember: Your attendance, behavior, academics, community service, etc. are of critical importance this year! You will need recommendations and good reports from R.C.H.S.
