Rockcastle County FCCLA Attends State Leadership Conference

Earlier this week, Rockcastle County FCCLA attended the 73rd Annual Kentucky FCCLA State Leadership Conference in Louisville, KY. The chapter made some huge waves at the meeting. Hope Clontz was elected the 2018-2019 Kentucky State FCCLA Vice President of Membership. She will represent Rockcastle County on the state executive council along with other state officers from across the state. Hope will be the first state officer from Rockcastle County in over 15 years. Wish Hope luck as she embarks on this next adventure in her FCCLA career. Cameron Brown was awarded the Vaughn Williamson Scholarship making him the first male recipient of a FCCLA scholarship in State history. The following members earned their Power of One degree: Brinkley Abney, Lauren King, Kira Owens, Brianna Owens, Heaven Pearson, and Cheyanne Savage. Cameron Brown earned his State Degree which the highest degree a Kentucky FCCLA Member can receive. He also received the Agnes Foster Golden Horizon award which is given to those senior members who are integral to their chapter’s success. Cameron Brown and Kira Owens were recognized for their commitment to become family and consumer science teachers at the Say Yes to FCS pinning and signing ceremony. Lauren King served as a time keeper in one of the competition areas. In Star Events, Cameron Brown and Heaven Pearson placed first in Chapter Service Project Display-Senior. Kira Owens and Hope Clontz placed first in Focus on Children. Brinkley Abney and Brianna Owens competed in National Programs in Action. Aliah Bray and Lauren Vanzant placed first in Chapter Service Project Display- Junior. Wish them luck as they compete on the national level at Atlanta, GA in July.
