RCHS is a rural high school with an established trend of academic progress. Serving students in grades 9 through 12, it is our vision “to produce life-long learners for a mobile society” and our mission “to equip all students with sufficient skills to become contributing members of society.” RCHS offers a wide variety of educational opportunities. RCHS and the Rockcastle Area Technology Center align curriculum to create seamless pathways to postsecondary careers. We also utilize articulation agreements with the University of Kentucky, Eastern Kentucky University, Sullivan University and the Kentucky Community and Technical College System. Advanced Placement classes, Independent Study, Co-Op programs and distance learning opportunities round out our academic program. Various student organizations also enhance learning and promote academics, community service and leadership.

What We are Doing to Improve: RCHS collaborates in meetings of the general faculty, department chairs, departments, school council and school council committees. RCHS faculty are working aggressively to reduce gender and socio-economic gaps, using data to select and evaluate improvement activities. Individual Learning Plans are begun at our middle school and developed one on one with teacher advisors each year through our Academic Advisory program.
