Minds in the Middle Newsletter

School will not be in session this Friday, October 3rd.  We will dismiss at 2:45 on Thursday to conduct bus drills.  Students should bring report cards home on Thursday.

8th graders and 6th graders will be doing the KIP Survey next Thursday, Oct.9th.  This survey is done throughout the state and gathers information from students about drugs, tobacco, alcohol and other school safety issues.  Forms should only be returned if you do not want your child to participate.

The KONA Ice trucks will be back at RCMS on Friday, October 10th.  Proceeds will go toward our 8th grade trip.

“Rock the Pink” t-shirts for breast cancer awareness are on sale through next week. The shirts and gray with pink and white printing. The cost is $10 and proceeds benefit the Hope Fund at Rockcastle Regional.  Students can see Mrs. Cromer or Mrs. Bullock for an order form.

Y-Club members who are planning to go to the Kentucky Youth Assembly need to turn in their forms and first deposit of $80 to Mrs. Cromer as soon as possible.

Students who are interested in entering the 4-H poster contest need to pick up information in the Youth Services Center.

There will be a Unite Club meeting next Friday.  Members who are interested in running for a Unite office need to pick up an application from Mrs. Cromer.  The Unite Club toilet paper drive will be going on during the next two weeks.  The toilet paper collected will be sent to local drug rehab facilities.

Students will be bringing home information about the Mixed Bags Fundraiser this week. Proceeds go directly back to our students through the Parent Teacher Student Alliance.

Congratulations to Mr. McGuire’s Shooting Stars homeroom on winning the attendance race last week.  Mrs. Tracy’s Voyagers came in second.  Another Shooting Stars homeroom, Mr. Mattingly’s, came in third.  Remember that great attendance sets a great pattern of work ethic for life!
