Veterans Day is a big event at RCMS. We are so thankful to have all of those wonderful men and women visit our school for this celebration. The 8th grade Leadership Team and Student Council members were hosts for a reception before the program. Several students also participated in the program. The program began with the presentation of colors by the RCHS ROTC Color Guard. The pledge to the American flag was led by Alyssa Dyer, Austin Miles, Kaylan Sams, Timothy Caldwell, Dwayne Clark, and Mahala Miller. Mrs. Carri Burdette led the crowd in the national anthem. 8th grader Landon Reppert led in prayer and Noah Phillips welcomed the Veterans. We were honored to have Mr. Travis Brenda share remarks from the U.S. House of Representatives. Music was presented by the RCMS Choir, the RCMS Band, and Jackson Stallsworth. USAF retired Colonel Steven Parker was our guest speaker for the day. Student YMCA members Ben Brown, Raychel Carpenter, Carley Carter, Paige Cash, and Joseph Elam recognized Veterans and Active Duty Personnel. Corey Colman, Inan McFarland, Landon Carlton, Madi Lewis, and Rylee Smith presented the POW/MIA Empty Chair Ceremony. The program ended with RCMS band member Loareta Krebs playing TAPS.
