On April 11, 2013, the Rockcastle UNITE Coalition will hold their annual Leadership Rally and Community Celebration Dinner at the Rockcastle County Middle School, beginning at 5:30 p.m. During the evening, the Coalition will elect upcoming Board Members and Officers and recognize several leaders in our county who have made an impact through UNITE. The work of Operation UNITE will be highlighted through a program involving the student UNITE Club members from all five county schools: Roundstone, Brodhead and Mount Vernon Elementary Schools, Rockcastle County Middle, and Rockcastle County High School. These young people will be joined by a UNITE club from Page School Center in Bell County in a community choir. You will not want to miss this moving musical selection by students who have committed themselves to “Holding On To A Drug-free Life.”
Everyone who attends will also learn how they can be involved in the fight against substance abuse in Rockcastle County. Following the dinner and special music by Chad’s Hope residents, the keynote speaker for the evening will be Renee Napier of Pensacola, Florida, who will share the story of the deaths of her daughter, Meagan Napier, and Meagan’s best friend, Lisa Dixon. The girls were killed as a result of young man driving under the influence. It is a story of forgiveness and restoration. In fact, the story is so powerful that contemporary Christian musician, Matthew West, used Renee’s story to write the song, “Forgiveness”, which is currently number one on the Christian music charts. Your heart will be deeply touched as you hear how these two families went through the trial and conviction of their daughters’ murderer, to a time of forgiveness, and a time of commitment to sharing the story as an effort to prevent other similar tragedies.
We hope you will make plans to attend the Rockcastle UNITE Coalition’s Leadership Rally and Community Celebration Dinner. We hope you will also choose to make a difference in our county by taking a stand against substance abuse. In order to make arrangements for the dinner, we ask that you RSVP the number who will be attending from your church, business, or family, by Monday, April 8, 2013. Those involved in the school system are asked to RSVP through school UNITE Club advisors. Other community members are asked to RSVP by contacting Mrs. Nancy Hale by telephone: 606-425-6779 or by email: email@example.com
