In a heartfelt ceremony, Rockcastle County Middle School honored local veterans with a Veterans Day program filled with student performances and a showcase of original artwork. The program opened with the veterans’ arrival and a special luncheon, followed by a grand entrance into the gym. The RCHS Color Guard presented the colors, setting a respectful atmosphere, and the school choir performed patriotic songs to recognize the bravery and dedication of those who have served.
A highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of awards for the school’s Veterans Day poster contest. Students 6th -8th grade participated, creating artwork that accurately and creatively expressed the meaning of Veterans Day. The winners, chosen for their originality and attention to detail, were acknowledged in front of their peers and the attending veterans, adding a unique and personal touch to the event.

Principal Jessica Willis and student council representative Rayleigh Hancock welcomed attendees, followed by guest speaker Terry Robbins, who shared words of appreciation for veterans' service and sacrifice. The ceremony concluded with a powerful POW/MIA table ceremony and the playing of TAPS, offering a solemn tribute to those still missing. This year’s Veterans Day program at Rockcastle County Middle School was a meaningful opportunity for students to engage with the history and significance of Veterans Day, fostering respect and gratitude for those who have served.
