Rockcastle County’s elementary schools showcased their academic excellence at the District Governor’s Cup competition on Saturday, February 1st, at Mount Vernon Elementary. Students competed in Composition, Future Problem Solving, Written Assessment, and Quick Recall, demonstrating their hard work and dedication.

Brodhead Elementary claimed the overall District 89 Governor’s Cup championship, earning 79 points and securing first place in Composition, Future Problem Solving, and Quick Recall.

Roundstone Elementary had a strong performance, finishing as the District Runner-Up and taking second place in Quick Recall. Mount Vernon Elementary was honored with the Katherine C. Hume Sportsmanship Award for their outstanding teamwork and hospitality as event hosts.

Beyond the team awards, individual students excelled in their Written Assessments across all five subject areas and will advance to the next level of competition.
