Several talented students from Rockcastle County Middle School recently auditioned for top ensembles across the state, showcasing their musical excellence and dedication.
In the Kentucky Music Education Association (KMEA) District 11 Honor Band, over 200 students from 16 schools in Central Kentucky competed for a spot in one of two ensembles. Four Rockcastle students earned selections:
Harrison Craig (baritone)
Evee Warrick (bass clarinet)
James Perkins (tenor sax)

These students will perform in mid-March at Danville High School, representing Rockcastle County among the region’s best young musicians.
Additionally, the KMEA All-State Middle School Band saw over 550 students from across Kentucky audition for a coveted place in one of two ensembles. James Perkins (tenor sax) achieved an outstanding honor, earning first chair in the Concert Band. He will perform in early March at the Glema Mahr Center for the Arts in Madisonville, Kentucky.
