Today was the first day of Project Launch: College Edition! All week, we will have representatives from different colleges and tech schools from around the state. Today, we had representatives from University of the Cumberlands, Lindsey Wilson University, Campbellsville University, and Medical Career & Technical College.
Thank you to our guidance counselors Mrs. Amy Parham and Mrs. Casey Harper for organizing such a beneficial event!
We kicked off Monday by recognizing more seniors who are College/Career Ready! Students earn this recognition in several ways. To be College/Career Ready, students must have met an ACT or SAT benchmark in English, Reading, or Math; earned a 3 or higher on an AP exam; passed a CTE End-of-Program assessment; earned a recognized industry certification; or completed a dual credit course with a C or higher. Students can also earn the recognition through completing a 300 hour co-op work experience!

Rockcastle County High School will be welcoming college representatives from across the region October 19th–23rd for an exciting opportunity to learn, ask questions, and explore your future!
Whether you are already planning for college or just starting to think about what comes next, this is your chance to:
• Meet college admissions representatives
• Learn about programs, scholarships, and campus life
• Ask questions about the college experience
• Discover opportunities you may not have considered yet
Seniors: You will have a special opportunity to connect with representatives during Homeroom (10:35–11:05 AM).
All Students: Stop by during Lunch (11:10 AM–12:35 PM) to meet with college representatives and learn more about what they have to offer!

Fall means college admissions testing! Who should consider taking the ACT or SAT?
Seniors, testing in the fall gives you plenty of time for improvement if you don't get the score you need or want. Test in December and have time to test again in February or April.
Juniors, get a head start on college admissions by setting your baseline score in December. Use your results to make a strategic plan to prepare for the state test administration in March. Also, testing now gives more time to meet college benchmarks.
Sophomores and freshmen, get a college admissions exam on record now to qualify for dual credit opportunities your junior year.

On Thursday, John Mills from Alice Lloyd College visited Mr. Lewis's English 12 students to tell them about the opportunities available at Alice Lloyd. He shared information about the college, programs and opportunities available to students, and what they could expect if they chose to attend.
Several students were interested enough that they completed applications to Alice Lloyd during the visit.

Fall is a critical time of year for seniors when they are planning college visits and actively thinking about what comes next after graduation. One important question they are asking is "What does that require?"
Over the next several weeks, we are working to help students answer that question. We will be looking at some of the most popular career paths and jobs shared by students, and we will share some of the requirements needed for that career--whether that is to get into a specific program or to take specific classes within the program.

This is the time that student reps from each of our clubs share club information with students in preparation for our Flex Club time in October. Several students signed up for our special School Day ACT and School Day SAT exams! Students can take these exams on a school day instead of coming in on a weekend, plus the cost of each exam is almost half the cost of the regular fee.

Members of Ed Rising spent today on the Asbury University campus attending the Educators Rising Regional Experience. They spent the day hearing from faculty and regional leaders, connecting with peers from other schools, and exploring what college life.
